Herbert (Herb) W. Bateman IV is a North American scholar from Camden County New Jersey with a Ph.D. from Dallas Theological Seminary with over forty years of church and graduate level teaching experience (1978–present).

During a partial retirement phase of life (2013–2020), Bateman founded the Cyber-Center for Biblical Studies, produced videos, wrote books, preached, spoke at conferences, taught overseas, and organized conferences. He also worked part-time as Kregel's acquisitions and Kerux Commentary editor. Currently, Bateman is happily retired from Kregel Publications but still fills the pulpit for pastors in Northern Indiana and writes. His most recent publication is Hebrews: A Commentary for Biblical Preaching and Teaching.

Hebrews: A Commentary for Preaching and Teaching is part of Kregel's Kerux Commentary series. The Kerux Commentary series, unlike other commentaries written for preachers, joins experts in biblical exegesis with experienced communicators of biblical truth. Together they bring a heightened refinement in the handling of the Bible. Every volume emphasizes text-based truths that bridge from the context of the original hearers and readers to the twenty-first-century world. The name kerux (KAY-ruxs) captures the aim of the series. Just as a kerux was one who proclaimed the official announcement of the king, so this volume enables the preacher or teacher communicate the message of our divine King.
